I recently learned about the Sassanid empire, which struck me as a likely inspiration for the Sarranid's namesake. Nords are self-explanatory. I also learned about a German province called "Swabia," which may have influenced Swadia.
But where does "Vaegir" come from, assuming they're based in Eastern Europe and Russia? And the Rhodoks? From the Greek island of Rhodes (which I literally just realized is where Rhode Island probably got its name)? That doesn't make sense to me, seeing how the Rhodoks are generally compared to the Republic states of Italy.
