I have a nice wife, a nice fief too, a castle on a hill with a magnificent view. I have fertile lands, and villages that thrive, hundreds of troops who somehow stay alive. My coffers are heavy, my warband is fed, my enemies see my banner and occasionally drop dead. I have horses and armor, silver and grain, a hall full of nobles complaining again. By every measure, I’ve won at this game. I’ve conquered, grown wealthy, and built up my name. Yet I stand on my battlements when the campaigning is done, watching the mountains fade with the sun. My wife is beside me. My kingdom is strong. My vaults overflow. But something feels wrong. I’ve everything a lord could possibly acquire… Maybe what’s missing another fief to desire. submitted by /u/t-o-m-u-s-a [link] [comments]
- First playthrough, i am a vassal of Kingdom of Nords. First time besieged castle by my own. Ismirala castle.
- I read that as sole conqueror it's very likely that king will grant it to me, but i still worry and ask lords around who should get the fief.
- Everyone is telling that it should be received by someone else. I ride around like crazy and convince every lord i can that i should receive the fief.
- Happily accepting the fief later.
- Realizing that all this time i was convincing everyone that i should get some poor village in distant fucklands. Village that get raided constantly and is out of my reach most of the times.
- Realizing that this story happened to me already with Curaw and some another distant village and i still didn't learn to check about what fief i convince everyone to support me.
Welp, being attentive is hard. I hope that other lords who wanted those villages will understand that.
