Is horse/archery the only way to play?

I'm just starting out after having watched a good number of play-throughs and some tutorials. It kind of seems to me that archery and horse archery is the most OP way to play, am I correct in this? I'm kind of interested in playing a heavy lancer kind of character, but it seems like I'd get wrecked by lots of ranged units or in sieges. (Native) The true power of Huscarl Shields

Looking at the stats of the Huscarl’s Shield, it has 410 durability (basically HP), paired with a whopping 19 resistance meaning that each arrow shot delivers only 1 damage to durability (ie 20 damage to shield from arrow - 19 resistance) Am I correct in thinking this means every huscarl unit shield can take up to 400 arrows/ sword hits before breaking? Tip when fighting a tough vassal/king: lead them to a village and let them attack it

This is especially good against people with a lot of units and cavalry 1) They will lose their horses, meaning that they will attack you on foot instead, but you keep your horses, giving you a huge advantage 2) The villagers will rally with you, meaning that you have extra people and distractions for attacking tough units The best way to do this is to aggro them then let them follow you to a village. Mainly making a post for my own reference, although I'd appreciate any input/feedback relating to this - or what I could improve. I love trading in the game for RP Campaign - little backroom deals and coins hitting the right hands to make sure my trading empire comes out on top and anyone who doesn't like me ends up having a bad time. So this guide is set to go over the broad strokes of trading in the beginning - without going into specifics of character creation so as to apply to as many characters as possible. However, I still recommend increasing your Trade Skill to at least 3 to make this guide viable. How to start The Five Kings can go screw themselves, so decline to get involved in their schemes in the opening missions. This means telling the Stark men you don't want to get involved and not going to pick up the raven that was shot down. This keeps you in everyone's good graces at the cost of a small renown hit. Completely overpowered method to attacking settlements. (Works on Console)

Before the siege, set the battle size to lowest (30 on Xbox). As soon as you load in, set the battle size to maximum, then wait until you get the notification that YOUR reinforcements have arrived. AS SOON AS you get this, pause, then set the battle size to minimum again. If done correctly, the enemies' reinforcements will not spawn in, leaving you fighting around 15 men at a time, while you have the usual number you would have for that battle. Funniest, largest, battle I've ever been in. From desperation to triumph a tale how I snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

I am playing swadians because I like their cav and, in floris, their archers ain't too shoddy. And turns out that Harlaus secretly hates my guts with a white hot passion as he sees fit to give me Dhirim at a time where we are at war with Vaegirs, Rhodoks and Khergits. And, of course, the city has switched hands like half a dozen times, at least, in the last 200 days. No successful deffenses in so far. A week passes by and the vaegirs arrive in force I have a 130-ish garrison And 110 party. So 240 soldiers, plenty of which fairly high tier (most of my party is tier V troops and above, though there's a handful of III-IV) ​ Yaroglek alone has 600 men (how) And brings 300 more from vassals Fuck I can't fight them! Let me tell you my dream roleplay since 2012. A slave will run to the fringes of Empire for freedom. Doing a few jobs for minor village notables he will gather enough money to make the first caravan run. After that he will slowly and steadily grow in wealth. Warband is a masterpiece

The "child"hood game. Im in my teen years and Mount and Blade Warband is my favourite game of all time. The first time i heard of Mount and Blade is when i was a child, a game that contained everything i ever wanted to a game to have that was under development and coming out soon (Well shiiit) . I never discovered the name if it, good for me, i didnt have to wait as long as veterans out here and i experienced Warband when i was older. My recent game was of Viking Conquest, Storyline mode. I have to say, this probably is the best Mount and Blade game i ever had! I never was so caring and immersed with my character Louis, a Frank with Roman blood that abandoned his life to cure his mother via the help of a renowned Frisian doctor. Im not going to spoil the Storyline, but its absolutely amazing, i chose the Christian side i will tell you that. 12000 Denar loss due to tax inefficiecy is obscenely​ unfair

I understand that its a mechanism for game balance and that Calradia is torn between faction wars and what not. But I have defeated both Khergit and Sultanate and have all these towns in my name, but due to tax inefficiency I'm losing 3000 denars each week. 12000 denar cut is way too much man even for tax inefficiency. Just found Mount and Blade Warband...

... completely by random last week, by watching the Sovietwomble's Bullshittery video on it. Got interested, downloaded the demo from Steam, and yesterday I bought the full game. I am considering getting With Fire and Sword as well. The viking DLC likely won't run on my mediocre laptop, and I'm sort on the edge on getting the Napoleonic Wars DLC - I'm not that bigly into multiplayer, and I'm not sure if it brings anything new to single player. I like this mod and i really appreciate the many hours that were spent developing this mod and that its not for every one (skill wise) but i still find it a bit annoying sometimes and sometimes i think its only so famous because its harder than most mods but making a mod hard for a player ,in my opinion, doesn't make it a great mod just a hard mod. Could we get a mod based off of Shrek's universe?

No, this is not a shitpost. Some time ago I stumbled across what seemed like a map of Shrek's world (didn't even imagine it existed). It didn't seem huge, so I figure it wouldn't be too much effort. The factions could be based off of the actual kingdoms in Shrek (e.g. Far Far Away and Farquaad's) and some of the creatures that populate Shrek's universe. Shrek would be like the absolute overlord of all ogres or something like that, with Donkey as his mount. It just got me thinking, I mean, it could theoretically be done right? Don't get relations to 100 with your king

(Playing 1257AD enhanced) I've found that it is not to my advantage to get the king to 90+ relations. I have been ready to rebel since I had 2 cities, 4 castles and 1 village. I now have 4 cities, 7 castles and 1 village and it seems he will still be giving me more! My tax rate is terrible! I am having trouble paying for new recruits and training them so I can take another fief so far away from where my kingdom where they will be almost impossible to defend. The fiefs I want to keep have had their garrisons trimmed to the minimum to supply troops to take and hold castles I don't want. Then on top of it all the lords in the Teutonic Order are all selfish DICKS so it will be some time before I can find decent vassals! What faction would become the only one in Pendor with enough time?

I’ve started a new Pendor play through and after 100 days or so days I finally decided to become a vassal. I decided to go with the empire and almost 50 days after I joined the empire was all but defeated. Sarleon took ethos and every other castle north/east of there while the D’Shar took Janos and everything else. The only remaining fief was Cez. Ravenstern also made some good ground by pushing into the fierdsvain. All this happened with little to no interference from me. Native, HELP!

I request help! I am currently doing my first play-through of the native game and I am kinda stuck and wondering what to do next. I am a level 27 and have the 8 good champions, I have enterprises in all towns doing silk and have about 60k. I own three fiefs (Azgad, Emirin and Serendiar) as well as Radoghir castle which is about 325 with med and high level units. I'm part of the Swadian faction and have 51 right to rule and a large amount of people (primarily swadia, nords and vaegirs) as my friends and have married Elys. But I'm not sure what to do next and not sure the best way to start my own faction and keep all the troops in my one castle. I'd appreciate any suggestions! Cheers!!! Ay guys swadian sergeants are the best

So here is why have you ever encountered a lord 4x bigger and stronger than yours do u just wish you could kill them all leaving you in peace to kill as much pheasant and burning their village and taking their loot in peace well swadian sergeants are for you So here what happen I was minding my own business when a lord with 124-147 troops came up and tried stabbing me I had 76 ,at that time I had 27 sergeants already but still outnumbered but luckily I spawned in a bridge and thanks to the movie "300” I Spartaned my way to victory like boi was it great the next thing I know hundreds of enemies died I had companions with high first aid and surgery so in the end after the battle my injured instantly can start fighting.And yes I burned down the village to be fair it where rhodoks but try Jarl Ragnar yeah I beat that guy with my army one of the easiest fight ever but the housecurls nearly killed my entire army but in the end we killed that Ragnar son of a pheasant Submitted July...

Mods refuse to tell me why i got banned.

After the last CC (06/07) i got banned from the discord server. I was dumbfounded since i didnt even speak most of the time during the event. I asked two mods as to why i got banned but one of them hasnt even replied and the other one is apparently not gonna bother to give me an answer. This is gonna get deleted for sure but i wanted to open it just in case someone decides to be decent about it and explains to me why i got banned since i believe it was a mistake. How m&b has prepared me for modern games

So, this is certainly the longest I've ever played the same game, going on 15 years now. I remember downloading the beta and paying $4 for my game key back in 2004. Been playing off and on since, on pc and console. With the growing trend of game companies to release half finished games (looking at you no man's sky, fallout 76 and anthem), mount and blade really have me the patience to wait for better, complete versions of those games. I've learned to enjoy what they had to offer now, and be patient for what is to come. And now some nostalgia- anybody else remember weapon training in the arena with kradus? 1257ad gave me depression

I'm not sure if this is because my computer is as good for running games as a toaster or this mod has annoyingly dark and sad shades and colours. I can't see at night even with my toaster at maximum brightness. Anyway i want to be able to kick french asses without having to worry about not killing myself because of how sad the mod looks. Tribe of Osraige is still alive. Northymbria got steamrolled by Gwynedd and Alt Clut after they took Alban (their king even joined Gwynedd after the kingdom was eliminated). The Danes have Dunwic (taken from West Seaxe after the fall of East Engle). Alt Clut took out the orange Goidels (forgot the name) and are advancing into Ireland.
