As someone who has never played M&B, why are there so many memes about Swadia?

I've never played M&B (I wanted to get the M&B Collection on Steam but I missed the last sale), but I've been subscribed to this subreddit for a while because of the Bannerlord hype.

Why are there so many memes about Swadia?

I'm curious because I often end up liking things that many people don't like or make fun of.
