What is fast mode?

What is cool about Gekokujo?

I've started playing with this mod several times and always dropped it few weeks into the game so probably I didn't feel most of features it introduced. It's a genuine question:D Why is this mod highest rated on steam and what does it offer aside from aesthetics?
