As im sure many of you know. Taleworlds has decided to remove Battle mode in favor of the new Skirmish mode they are cooking up for multiplayer. However, Im seeing a ridiclious amount of backlash against this decision and as such I will try to offer a counterpoint to really stop the stupid amount of hate and simmer some worries.
You can still play Battle Mode Battle mode is still possible with some server side configs. If everyone seriously loves battlemode as they say they do, then it would be no problem to just install a new mod and play Battle mode again. Especially with how moddable Bannerlord will be, this will not be a problem at all.
The perk system is just as extensive as Warband Callum has said multiple times on the Taleworlds Forums that the perk system is not a limiting option, and players will still be able to customize their soldier just as much as Warband, if not, better. Unless Taleworlds seriously wants to back down on their word I think you should have a little more trust in them.
The rebalanced Perk system is meant to help new players Warband multiplayer is dying. Its not a lie. Everyone knows this. Its very rare to see new blood, servers filling up to 200 players only happen during peak times and during the Calradic Campaign events. This is particularly due to the insane amount of glitches in the game that players like to exploit. For example, the most well known Feint spamming, easily can cut up 30 players while wearing nothing but underwear. This will discourage new players from playing especially with how common this happens in servers like GK TDM.
You did not play the new Skirmish mode yet Why are people ragging on about a gamemode they have never played before? Its like hating a food you never tried before. How about waiting until the game comes out before making rash judgements out of emotion.
This is especially a very brave move on Taleworlds to announce a massive change like this to the game. No AAA company would have the balls to pull such a move. And for us to boo at Taleworlds for trying to pioneer their vision of the game really makes it understandable why they keep quiet on developement and instead offer stuff like the smiling NPCs dev blog.
Singleplayer is unaffected For me, Singleplayer is the main bread and butter of Mount and Blade, and really Multiplayer is just an extra add on to see how I can fight other players. We can still conquor Calradia, fight in 800v800, do epic seiges, and drink skulls, so this will really only affect the niche multiplayer community. Singleplayer will still be the same old Mount and Blade we know and love.
