There are a lot of things people are hoping to see in Bannerlord. I don't think this has ever been mentioned.
Okay, so when I searched this sub I actually found one post asking if it would be possible (and a bunch about the Floris mount, but that one is kind of silly) so it's not true to say it's never been discussed, but I think it's under-discussed.
I want to start by acknowledging that doing this right would be a huge undertaking. It couldn't just be a reskin of horses. Not only because elephants are much larger, but because of how they are used tactically and operationally. A horse carries one guy, but an elephant carries a small fortress garrisoned by a handful of guys. Using elephants properly could have impacts not just for how mounts have to be scripted, but on the very structure of how a party is built. The mount/troop relationship would have to change from 1:1 to 1:M.
There's also the historical nature of it. M&B has always been medieval in style, with the factions more-or-less representing western Europe (Swadia), eastern Europe (Vaegirs), Northern Europe (Nords), Southern Europe/Italy (Rhodoks) and the middle east (Sarranids). There's no room in there, historically, for elephants.
That said...it'd be pretty cool. I'd put Jeremus in one so maybe his dumb ass would stop getting knocked out when I need him in the back keeping my troops alive. Also, elephants as siege engines? Yes, please.
It also opens up scripting for other different types of mounts. Chariots, for example, or siege engines that appear on the battlefield.
