Getting insane FPS lag and input lag on Viking Conquest, what is the issue?

I have good hardware specs (listed below) and every time I try and play viking conquest i experience unending lag especially on the campaign map along with half a second to 1 full second input lag.

Dell 2560x1440p 144hz Monitor

i7-4770k @ 4.4Ghz

2x GTX 1080 ZOTACs in SLI

32GB DDR3 RAM

500GB SSD + 6TB HDD Space

Doesn't matter if I set battle size to 150 or 750, the lag is the same.
