What should I do here?

I’m a vasal with the Khuzaits and I feel like the AI is not doing me any favors. We were at war with Sturgia and the Aserai at the same time which was a nightmare because everyone was running north and south. Not at war with Sturgia anymore but as soon as we made peace with them Monchug went and declared war with the western empire. I have 15 fiefs and they all border the western empire. So while every place I own is getting attacked Monchug and all the other assholes have been fighting over Shibal Zumr Castle. One side takes it and back and forth so most of the army is over there. And I’m in the same situation over at Onica castle. I own it but they take it and then I take it back. No one is getting anywhere. I want to go on the offensive and take Zeonica but I just don’t have enough people and I don’t think I can get anymore. Any tips for this stalemate? And where do all their troops keep coming from? Are you people using a controller to fight in melee?

So i am a newb, trying to figure out combat in MB2. With range weapons that is no problem, but in melee i just die.
I really mean it, every single(single!) enemy beats me in a fair fight. The tutorial is not really helpful.

I tried as many as ~30 Tourneys and i have no won a single one of them. In the eariler stages i can win by exploiting the chaos, but in 1on1 against an enemy with a shield i just lose like everytime while playing on "Bannerlord"-difficulty.

The problem is, that i have to aim at the enemy to block, stun and hit and aim away from the enemy to perform swing strikes with an onehanded sword(everything else gets easily blocked/misses all the time). So i normally run sideways, while aiming and swinging at the enemy at the other side - but then i like never get the correct aim to shieldbash.
Or i get the shieldbash right, but cant move my mouse fast enough to perform a swing attack afterwards in time, so i do a stab or overhead attack which often misses or gets blocked. So far all my one on one victories are luck based swings while running away. I just cant figure out a truely working bash/attack combo with mouse and keyboard.

So i am at the point, where i am convinced the game is not meant to be played with mouse and keyboard in melee combat. So are you playing the melee combat with M+K successfully?

Back when Bannerlord was announced, I vaguely remember that, in the announcement thread, people were discussing the choice of the title "Bannerlord." Does anyone else remember that?
