STUCK AT BEGINING OF WARSAILS

I escorted the merchants and fought off two ships in a sea battle . I'm on the Scourge of the Seas quest. It tells me to talk to Gunnar via a golden exclamation point. I go to talk to him and he says thst he is waiting on new." What do I do now? It seems as though there are no obvious prompts and the quest still exists. I need help specifically with advancing this quest...I can't believe I am stuck this early in the game. If anyone has any advice, I'm really desperate. Anyone else hate the randomness of the tournaments?

When I'm given a sword and shield I can easily win the tournament, but then if I ever end up with that awful lance (spent 10 mins in the final 1v1 trying to damage with that and I just couldn't) or a bow and arrow up against cavalry then I'm completely screwed. Is there any way to choose what weapons you get in the tournament?

Back when Bannerlord was announced, I vaguely remember that, in the announcement thread, people were discussing the choice of the title "Bannerlord." Does anyone else remember that?
