How are families going to work in Bannerlord?

I know you can marry and choose an heir to live as if your character dies. But, how does it work if the castle/town you rule over is conquered by a rival lord? Is your family taken hostage or thrown into a dungeon? I think it would be cool if when this happens they either travel with your party and live in the camp OR you get a quest with a time limit like 30 days to rescue them or they will be executed.
