I'm playing with some mods that heavily restrict recruitment, so my army is almost entirely bandits and mercenaries. On land, Monchug's army would destroy mine, but this isn't a land battle and he gifted me several amazing prizes. I always rush my way to 21 charisma and read "The Life of Alixenus the Great", which gets me all the way to 8 leadership.
This gives you +40 troops, reduces wages by 40%, and increases morale by 40%
You literally never need to worry about morale again, and you can field a massive army with barely any cost. Seriously, leadership is the best skill in the entire game.
