Declared war on allied mercenaries on load save?

I’m playing as southern Empire, have the Hidden Hand as mercenaries with a couple of their parties in my army. I started a big battle late at night, so half way through quit to go to bed, knowing I’d saved right before the battle anyway like a good little save scummer. Now when I reload any of the precious 3 autosaves I immediately declare war on the Hidden Hand and their parties abandon my Army. How do I stop a stronger empire from wiping me out?

Tilte. Sort of a beginner question but im really struggling because everytime I create a kingdom I get war declared on me almost immediately by the western empire which is VASTLY stronger than me right now. The problem is I genuinely don’t know how to get more powerful without declaring myself a kingdom. I only have 2 parties of about 100 and I still don’t even know how to get my Ai party to not just go away and do his own thing. Help?
