i Usually prefer nexusmods but is it better to use steam workshop because mods and the game version keep getting updates?

if i go a week without playing i need to scroll through nexus and update every mod manually. bit of a pain when i just want to continue my game.

or can i use both? use workshop for butter, harmony and mcm5? and use nexus for others?
