Crashing when going into battle?

Game's been fine for a while, but now when he goes into battle he crashes. Along with this, I've noticed a lot of characters with titles, but no names, like "the Golden" and "the Spicevendor" in his game. They take on his name in the HUD when he opens their inventory, though.

Any ideas what might be causing issues? I'll send crash logs if necessary.
