Troops control

Is it just me or are troops hard to control I mean does anybody know why they always look behind them when I tell them to do something or go somewhere or when I’m setting up a kill box it feels impossible because they turn around and get pummeled if anyone knows how to fix this let me know because it is so frustrating and makes it hard to use tactics
