Some of the castles in this game are so profoundly poorly designed that it almost seems like they are deliberately designed to favour attackers. I can buy the idea that some cities could have bad defenses to accomadate the organic growth of the town or whatever, but the idea that a castle, something built from the ground up to be a defensible strong point, would be so profoundly awful, is just a fucking absurdity I just got Melion castle and had to defend it against what should have been an easy siege defence and holy shit it it ever fucking awful. Not only does it have terrible defensible choke points, but the choke points it does have are seemingly deliberately cluttered with obstructions and full on buildings for reasons i cant really understand so you cant even actually use them. This castle is straight up a liability to the point where it would probably b3 better to fight the battle in the field Im genuinely confused as to what the design philosophy is for castles in this this g...

So I gave in to buying Bannerlord after they removed from game pass. The game is very much a love hate relationship, nothing else seems to hit that spot. The updates the last year has given me more faith in the developers. Managed to order it cheaper on Amazon if anyone was having the same issue. One day I will convert to pc and finally have mods. Anyone got any ideas on how to keep my nord run fun? I’m really trying to avoid getting into that tedious kingdom/vassal never ending war. I’m currently thinking I’ll take a rebelled town near the nords when one pops ups, then just start a war with aserai and valandians as a clan and keep going by boat to raid and shit. Hopefully weakening them so much I might be able to take them as an independent clan. I’d appreciate some of your fun ideas for vanilla console. For context, I am gonna be playing as a master swordsman Khuzait on foot - focusing on two handed, bows and smithing. Obviously they aren’t japanese, but I think their armor looks the closest. Also the Darkhans kinda fit the aesthetic. Important! The new change to parties makes it so you can prevent them from joining armies/sailing, which essentially traps them on the island to patrol endlessly, which is exactly what I want. They do a pretty good job of eliminating Looters but I've noticed that when some fool crosses the ocean to raid one of my villages, my clan parties will wait outside the battle and not interfere with the raid. All 3 groups (all 120+ troops) traveled to the village being raided but were "waiting for ally parties to defend," even though a single one of them could win, let alone all 3. I literally JUST won a siege against the Western Empire, where we were outnumbered 3:1 (Just under 1,000 v just over 330), literally fought them till the last man, we had like 30 guys left out of my original 200. I captured 7 lords in this battle, including the Emperor himself. So why is it that when I go to look at peace conditions we all of a sudden need to PAY THEM?? We’ve inflicted higher casualties, we’ve lost only 1 castle the entire war (Fuck ass Battania and Aserai declared on us so it was difficult to keep every castle when we had to fight 3 wars at the same time), they’ve conducted more successful raids but that hardly matters. This is 100% guaranteed way to win every siege with minimal casualties. • Build your 2 siege towers and battering ram • Build a trebuchet in each ranged slot - but this is the trick - the MOMENT they’re built, put them in reserve. Once all 4 are in reserve, take them all out at the same time. • Now watch the enemy catapults. They’ll get rebuilt, but eventually you’ll have all 4 destroyed at the same time. • The exact moment you see all 4 catapults down, pause and lead troops. You’ll now have troops pouring over 6 ladders and through the gate without having to worry about mass casualties from catapults. I’ve been using this strat ever since I discovered it and my sieges have been cake ever since. The only downside is it takes a while to build everything so you’ll have to worry about relief armies. I’ve been playing a lot of Bannerlord again recently, it’s somewhat of a comfort game you could say. Anyhow; I was playing my game, of course I’m with Vlandia and so I’m enjoying my corner of the world when Derthert decides to war the Aserai. Being a good sheep I of course lead the charge, mostly raiding villages for quick money and to draw out lords to fight me. Fast forward a few days into the war when the Western Empire suddenly declares war on us. In truth I wasn’t feeling like fighting the Aserai and a lot of Vlandia was already down south so i decided to head back up to defend against the Imperial scourge, who up until recently was losing against Battania, so i figured it would be simple. Since we already captured Quayz from the Aserai I decided that raiding coastal villages and then retreating to Quayz to sell and repair when I needed to was a solid strategy. Fast forward a few days of this war and i’m raiding a coastal village in hopes of getting the attention of a few Imperia...

I have no idea how to create mods but just throwing this idea out there and hopefully a modder picks it up. This mod would allow an independent clan to own a single village without having to become a vassal or create a kingdom. The player could purchase, earn, or otherwise obtain one village within a chosen culture and use it as their clan’s permanent home, regardless of whether they are a mercenary, trader, adventurer, or simply an independent clan. Features Own one village while remaining an independent clan. Choose a village that fits your clan’s culture. Develop and upgrade the village over time. Receive a modest income from the village. Blood feud introduced in new sounds great to me, but I keep wondering if AI will do the same to each other. In the past only time when AI executed some other lords was when they captured lords of the rebellion town, which didn’t have too much relatives or power. I think it would improve if blood feud could be triggered also by death in battle. It would bring some randomness and make political more unpredictable. For example in the game of thrones Jaimie Lannister killed Lord Karstark sons in battle when he tried to get to Robb Stark. So basically it's silly. I've never seen 6 - 30 pirate groups, it's always 40 - 70, making early game small vessel use completely invalid. I've got a couple medium ships now, and can beat them fine, but it lacks that fun small scale skirmish with just one ship appeal. Question. I know a lot of players don't stick to a monotone cultural getup when they play, but a lot of players probably do what I do; try to stick to culturally appropriate armours and weapons for the culture I am playing. I take this mentality with me to smithing as well, where I try to smith and use weapons that suit my characters culture appropriately. But I have some exceptions; I often use animal pelts for shoulder armour when playing as a Vlandian or Imperial. If I play as a Sturgian I may use some Khuzait armour. And if I play as a mercenary or Lord for a different cultural faction than my character is from, I may use a mix of regional armours and use my own culture for a weapon. Example; I played a Nord corsair mercenary for the Empire. I used gilded scale Imperial armour with gilded scale shoulderguards, golden pirate gauntlets and boots, and a brass Aserai helmet with a Nord one handed sword with gilded pummel and handguard. Anyone else give themselves similar cultural restrict...

Currently, the enemy AI is the most dangerous, when they just blindly charge at me. If they defend, they just stand around and wait for my crossbows to kill them, while their crossbows are wasting time and ammo on my shield guys. If they attack, they often try to slowly flank me or something, but this also gives my crossbows time to kill them and they sometimes get bunched up and confused near the invisible wall (map border). I changed the AI so that they always charge at me like bandits and it is better now, but this still means their cavalry and archers run ahead of infantry and get slaughtered by my crossbows first. I already removed all athletics skill from archers, so they run slower, but they are still faster than the shieldmen. I suppose I could just boost the athletics skill of infantry, but I wanted to ask if anyone has experience with solving this problem and how to make AI tactics not stupid? submitted by /u/Waybook [link] [comments]

So many reviews I see talk about "game only good with mods" kind of rhetoric. All I can find that seem truly mandatory are diplomacy and dismemberment. RBM looks pretty cool but I feel like it's a similar story to Combat Extended in Rimworld... it's mainly for people that literally can't pallete the vanilla offering. I think Bannerlord's combat is awesome so I don't want that changed. I've seen better garrisons but found it confusing and not necessary (to me). I wanted to check out My Little Warband but idk if the new patch has borked it or not so I'm just not going to try. I don't like GOT, LOTR or any total conversion mods really. After the obvious ones, steams top subscribed doesn't really help me in terms of discovery. Anyone help me find the missing pieces? Because if Diplomacy and Dismemberment are the only two that are mandatory, I feel like the base game is actually pretty good and not "only good with mods" submit...

I started a new campaign for the first time since war sails released and I almost immediately noticed many quests were not generating. No transport merchants, caravan ambush, army of poachers, extortion by deserters, etc. only quests were gang leader. Thats when I noticed these quests weren’t spawning because they require certain persmaters like security < 50 or something (I made this value up) and almost every settlement in the game is sitting at or close to 100 security. It really makes the early game a slog and towns have no chance to rebel because security is too high. The 6 fief requirement has been removed, only being a King or Queen, that holds land is required to have these options, and of course if you manage to take a monarch prisoner. If you are a monarch with land, you see the 1st picture, if you are a monarch but holds no lands, you'll see the 2nd picture, if you are not a monarch, you'll see the 3rd picture. And the last picture is the options menu. A few months ago, I found myself making edits and applying tweaks to Prophesy of Pendor from its fandom page, and it turned into what I would consider a decent submod. I plan to share all the changes very soon. I am a vassal of The Vale, and even though we are at war with 2 kingdoms, my kingdom hasn't made a single army so far. At first I thought it was because the enemy kingdom was too far, so I raided a village near Castlery Rock and they instantly became our enemies as well. About 2 hours later still 0 army. Basically any battle that doesn't pause at the beginning and let you choose ships... is there a way to set which ship you default to controlling, and for that matter, which ships join the battle altogether? I’m putting together a full reskin for the troop trees in the most recent War Sails/Bannerlord version. I’m using RBM with True Levies as a base. I’m integrating EBA, BUA, and the weaponry file from OSA with their respective RBM patches. I’ll be going through each individual unit from Looters to Knights and integrating them with modded armour and weapons, keeping as close as I can to the native True Levies values. Pictured above is a brand new save that has no mods at all, that I just made a few minutes ago. Normally, I would see this shadow when I would be using an outdated save with either outdated mods or an outdated game version. But for some reason, for all of my new saves since June, I've been seeing this, even after making new saves with no mods at all. It doesn't seem to effect anything. Everything still works. My game has started crashing on just about every naval battle. I can get past the formation setting screen, and usually make it about halfway to the enemy ships before it crashes. Never had this issue before, have done hundreds of naval battles over the last few months with only the rare crash here and there. Has anyone else experienced this recently?
