i can't sue for peace while actively dying

im in 2 front war, all my vassals are captured, i have one castle left after vlandia cane with the 2000 men army and took my city , and i cant make peace even i i want to pay tribute. Does anyone know how to stop my infantry from suiciding on ladders and towers in sieges?

I am trying to snag a castle in khuzait lands without vassalizing, so I need to do it fast and with minimal loses. But my infantry keeps braking shield wall formation to pick up ladders and gets killed in process. How do I stop my legionaries that I have carried from day zero from suiciding one by one? It is a torture to watch
