Tips for a new Player - keep the run or start new

So I've recently started my first Campaign in my first ever Mount & Blade Game.
I've learned a lot in the first like 30 hours, made some mistakes, the kingdom I joined got crushed and half the map is taken by one empire already while I have around 90 troops, make -900 denaris per day with 4 workshops making like 300 a day together and my clan is level 3, nearly 4.

I had 2 castles and a city, the castles lost money and the city was taken 2 weeks after I received it and I left the kingdom I was a vassal of to go back to being neutral with everybody.

As I don't know M&B games yet, I don't know if I just threw the game by being too slow or something. So my question would be if this is a type of game I should restart to get a better start or if it is not really relevant.
Do empires crumble easily? Am I supposed to be a vassal of a strong empire already?

I just got the main quest to either join a kingdom or create my own, but I can't even financially afford more troops right now as I need to do quests and stuff to keep myself afloat.

Back when Bannerlord was announced, I vaguely remember that, in the announcement thread, people were discussing the choice of the title "Bannerlord." Does anyone else remember that? It was a useless topic to discuss, but I kept coming back because I was so hyped about the game and was hoping for more information about it.
