Some game-changing advice for folks like myself who find offensive sieges intolerably boring because of the crowd crush
Do you too have a distain for offensive sieges because whether you assault the walls or the gate house, the end result is just sitting in the middle of a giant compact crowd unable to do anything but spam high attack and hope you land a hit once in a blue moon? Are you a first person view enjoyer who finds being stuck in these crowds to be visually jarring because of all the movement and clipping on the screen all up in your face?
Well, today i discovered that you don't need to subject yourself to this mind-numbing tedium. As it turns out, you can easily brute force your way through the defenders of the gatehouse, a good method for thing being to simply put your attacking formation in a square and ordering them to physically move past the crowd. Once inside the gate you can set your men to charge or do whatever it is you want with your new-found power, and voila! Now your men will be fighting in the streets/courtyard of the city/castle and you will have some room to actually swing your weapon around and do stuff!
The problem of course is that this can at times feel a little bit cheesy as the AI often has little answer to you immediately breeching their defensive choke point (though other times it might result in your men getting surrounded and anihilated) but either way I find it to be a small price to pay to have some actual fun with what is easily the most boring and tedious part of the game.
