STUCK AT BEGINING OF WARSAILS

I escorted the merchants and fought off two ships in a sea battle . I'm on the Scourge of the Seas quest. It tells me to talk to Gunnar via a golden exclamation point. I go to talk to him and he says thst he is waiting on new." What do I do now? It seems as though there are no obvious prompts and the quest still exists. I need help specifically with advancing this quest...I can't believe I am stuck this early in the game. If anyone has any advice, I'm really desperate. Relentless Asuri

Anybody else finding they never want to barter for peace?

I wipe the floor with them and they just rock back up with another 500 strong army half hr later.

Its very annoying having to watch that half of the map if the bloody Empire try and have a go as well.

Any tips for neutering them? I've finally managed to get 2x Vassals which is helping however I struggle without at least 3 Merc companies
