My main goal is always to hold as many cities as possible because they make the most money and more important you can build forums there to generate influence, with is the biggest bottleneck resource mid to late game. But if you hold a city of a different culture you get a -3 debuff to fief loyalty, which is quit annoying. So while you can not change the culture of a fief nor your own and most fiefs are of imperial culture wouldn’t it makes sense to always play as a imperial from a min max standpoint?
