What is fast mode?

Where to download mods from

So i tried mods from the steam workshop, got a notification that the bersions were mismatched.

Tried using vortex, and the mods wont deploy.

I dont remember it being difficult at all to mod bannerlord a couple years ago. Whats the deal? Is there a better place to get mods now?
