[Perisno] play with or without PBOD?

I've had an issue of bad micro stuttering in large battles with mods that include PBOD. Perisno thankfully has a patch to remove it from the game but I'm curious if I will miss anything major or gamebreaking from the mod and the battles playing without it? Basically are there any features now key to the mod that will break without PBOD activated? The pros in the no PBOD patch claims smarter AI and apparently no cons but I always thought PBOD was supposed to make the AI much smarter and tougher to fight in large scale battle? IF you play with PBOD and don't have any micro stutter i'd like to know your battle size too cause i get it on anything 200+ with an i7 4790k.
