[Prophesy of Pendor] Effective horse archer army?

Hello, could someone please suggest me how to make horse archers in your army behave like the AI horse archers do in enemy control? As in running away from troops instead of charging head on like knights?

And yeah I know you can just make them follow you and lead them in circles around the enemy but that's not what I'm talking about. Is there a way to make them say...only use ranged weapons?

How do you guys use horse archers?
