What's the best one-handed weapons to use from horseback?

In battle I like to keep my speed up and ride by enemies (especially infantry) and swing down at them, usually killing them but sometimes I end up just bumping them with my horse or missing entirely.

What is the best weapon for this tactic?

Also is it advisable to use a 1-hand/2-hand weapon for this kind of fighting (note that I have only developed my 1-handed so if it requires 2-handed skill to use these I probably can't afford the weapon skill points between buffing my 1-hand and my bow and arrow).
