I am playing With Fire and Sword and I got the quest to retrieve money from a stash, but the password isn't working

I went around asking people what that guy puts on his canons. Some said "why should I care," but the rest said "with fire and sword." I went to the village and I told the elder "with fire and sword," but he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. Am I doing something wrong? What am I supposed to do?
