(PoP) Is there a way to start your own Kingdom as a vassal, and keep your fiefs?

I've been playing PoP and signed on with the Baccus Empire as a vassal, have 2 castles, 1 village, and 3 major cities. Is it possible to declare independence from my current lord and keep all of my holdings?
