Might be stupid but need help…

I might be stupid here but when the new 1.1 patch drops for console…is there a way I can transfer my current playthrough to the new update without starting over to enjoy the new update? Or is my current playthrough just stuck playing without the updates? I really hate starting over again and again with every new update…playing on PS5
