Monchug was feeling generous today.

I'm playing with some mods that heavily restrict recruitment, so my army is almost entirely bandits and mercenaries. On land, Monchug's army would destroy mine, but this isn't a land battle and he gifted me several amazing prizes. The only way this could've been better is if Monchug died instead of his companion. submitted by /u/Glorf_Warlock [link] [comments]

TIL there is an outer space version of Mount and Blade.

The game is called Space Pirates and Zombies 2. I didn't buy it expecting a Warband clone, but once I started playing the inspiration was pretty clear. The game uses an overworld (over-galaxy?) map with instanced battles. Space stations take the place of towns and castles, which are supported by smaller stations that produce a specific resource. There are no hero characters, near as I can tell, but the role of other lords is taken by other spaceship captains.

Not that it's exactly the same. For example rather than building a "warband" of spaceships you have one, which you can heavily customize. Sure, it has fighter hangers, but unless there's a capability I didn't get to in five hours of playing you can't ever have more than four of those.

Utlimately, it's no replacement for Warband, but if you're looking for something that's a little different but might still scratch that itch it's both not bad and currently on sale on Steam.

Back when Bannerlord was announced, I vaguely remember that, in the announcement thread, people were discussing the choice of the title "Bannerlord." Does anyone else remember that? It was a useless topic to discuss, but I kept coming back because I was so hyped about the game and was hoping for more information about it.
