How to improve auto resolve outcomes?

I auto-resolve 90% of the fights I get into, what can I do for better results? Should I find 1-2 companions with high tactics skill and keep them in my party? Will that help? Do I have to assign them into any role? There is no slot for tactics role, is it enough if I just keep them in my party? As for sieges, should I keep a companion with high engineering skill and assign him in the engineering slot? Befriending a Rapist

A few months ago I was playing the ACOK mod and did a random event of saving a maiden from a rapist. But after the deed was done it was the rapist in a dress that thanked me for saving him from the scoundrel. Not only that but a text popped up saying my relation with Rapist went from 0 to 50. I literally about died from laughter from this, has anyone else experienced such a ridiculous random event? I really feel like this needs to be shared.
