STUCK AT BEGINING OF WARSAILS

I escorted the merchants and fought off two ships in a sea battle . I'm on the Scourge of the Seas quest. It tells me to talk to Gunnar via a golden exclamation point. I go to talk to him and he says thst he is waiting on new." What do I do now? It seems as though there are no obvious prompts and the quest still exists. I need help specifically with advancing this quest...I can't believe I am stuck this early in the game. If anyone has any advice, I'm really desperate. Simulated Vs fighting

I'm noticing that when battling an army I've got more chance of winning in simulation mode than I do if I fight it myself.

This is despite some great performances from me. For instance during a siege i got behind a large cross bow and decapitated 37 enemy. Pretty much constant shooting into a circle of enemy.

Despite this, I kept losing. I really wanted the character points but couldn't win the battle, even though my army was automated.

However, reloading the game and I would easily win on simulation. ..is this a known issue?

Also, does falling during a battle have an impact on soldier moral? Would I be better off hiding in a tower or does it have no effect if I fall?
