How to improve auto resolve outcomes?

I auto-resolve 90% of the fights I get into, what can I do for better results? Should I find 1-2 companions with high tactics skill and keep them in my party? Will that help? Do I have to assign them into any role? There is no slot for tactics role, is it enough if I just keep them in my party? As for sieges, should I keep a companion with high engineering skill and assign him in the engineering slot? DLC Factions???

If they were to add more factions to the game (doubt it, but one can dream) what would you like to see? I would personally love to see a faction based on the ancient Indian kingdoms, maybe have elephant cavalry as a tier 6 unit?? Or a Carthage-like faction that is very wealthy, but relies heavily on mercenaries? Idk, what would you like to see?

Edit : Before anyone says it, I know there is plenty of features they need to add to the vanilla game before factions, but it’s fun to imagine 🤷‍♂️ don’t be a buzzkill
