Declared war on allied mercenaries on load save?

I’m playing as southern Empire, have the Hidden Hand as mercenaries with a couple of their parties in my army. I started a big battle late at night, so half way through quit to go to bed, knowing I’d saved right before the battle anyway like a good little save scummer. Now when I reload any of the precious 3 autosaves I immediately declare war on the Hidden Hand and their parties abandon my Army. How to increase loyalty?

So I (from sturgia) found myself the owner of a city from battania, but my loyalty is low. I can't stockpile resources due to the low loyalty, and if I use the games it keeps my loyalty level. Do I have any better way to increase loyalty than to hunt down a battalion companion?
