Declared war on allied mercenaries on load save?

I’m playing as southern Empire, have the Hidden Hand as mercenaries with a couple of their parties in my army. I started a big battle late at night, so half way through quit to go to bed, knowing I’d saved right before the battle anyway like a good little save scummer. Now when I reload any of the precious 3 autosaves I immediately declare war on the Hidden Hand and their parties abandon my Army. Is there a glitch where if I take over the last fief of a kingdom by having a clan swap over to me does it cause the kingdom to never be destroyed?

I took over the last of the nords fiefs like 2 in game years ago and they have just been chilling
