Declared war on allied mercenaries on load save?

I’m playing as southern Empire, have the Hidden Hand as mercenaries with a couple of their parties in my army. I started a big battle late at night, so half way through quit to go to bed, knowing I’d saved right before the battle anyway like a good little save scummer. Now when I reload any of the precious 3 autosaves I immediately declare war on the Hidden Hand and their parties abandon my Army. We need more control over troops on ships

Telling your guys to go port or starboard and having the defend ship command stop your guys from getting on the bridges. Honestly like 4 more command options in the menu. After getting used to the mechanics and wanting to implement more tactics it starts to feel under cooked. If nothing else at least make cutting loose quicker. I cannot count how many times I watched an enemy ship demolish my skirmish ship right next to me while my guys fumbled the nets.
