So I had an idea for Persistent Troop Identities and thought I'd get feedback about it. It would be an optional feature that can be toggled on and off in mod settings, cause I can certainly imagine not everybody liking it.
So the idea is, when the player recruits from villages, the troops could send a portion of their income back home (this wouldn't necessarily actually affect prosperity). As that money rolls in you gain relations with the village proportional to what they get. If troops from a village remain in your service for a long time the village would be fairly happy with you. This will be amplified quite a bit if you upgrade the troops and are thus paying them higher wages. On the other hand, when troops from a village die, you would lose relations with the home village. If you keep leading recruits into slaughters you could quickly find that relations are now negative and villages are refusing to let you take anyone else (at least until you do some quests for them to get those relations back up).
I like the idea but it could be tough to balance. I'd love to hear if anybody has ideas for rates of relation gains/losses or just general feedback about the feature. Any ways it could be improved or expanded upon, etc.
