Disappointed Diplomacy

Just got back into the game agter the war sails expansion. And I am disappointed at the shallow level of fiplomacy still in the game. So many aded features and yet they could not add a truce mechanic...or even a way to influence nobles to change policy. Furthermore the changes they made are banal and redundant.. Explain to me why my "ALLY" Just deckared war on me after i PAID them 500k money to attack another faction. Keep in mind this was with 72 days remaining on the alliance. Help me figure out Warband

I got Warband yesterday for cheap and have spent most of that time running around raiding the occasional village for cash upgrading my gear and trying to become a lord of swadia (can't check if spelt right on phone)

So far I'm a rich Sellsword working with swadian king

How...exactly do I get knighted and all the other stuff?

Back when Bannerlord was announced, I vaguely remember that, in the announcement thread, people were discussing the choice of the title "Bannerlord." Does anyone else remember that?
