[Modding] Question about importing heightmaps

Hi!

I downloaded a few heightmap and I tried to import them but they're not turning out so great.

For one I don't know what the scale and offset values should be set to. Even if I import a heightmap with a big mountain in the middle, the terrain will be pretty flat.

What kind of properties should the heightmap I import have in terms of resolution etc?
