Mods with only one Kingdom

I know the whole point of MnB is the chaos and politics of different kingdoms, BUT i was wondering if there are any mods with only one major kingdom or just 2 for a rebellion type playthrough. What's new in Bannerlord the past few months?

I took a hiatus on the game about five months ago because of how frustrated I was at the broken empire-ruling, and the lack of any means of raising my companions to lordships. Are either of these fixed? And in broad strokes, what's been added in the past five months?

Back when Bannerlord was announced, I vaguely remember that, in the announcement thread, people were discussing the choice of the title "Bannerlord." Does anyone else remember that?
