What is fast mode?

Anyone else unable to play since hotfix 1.7.0

As the title says really ever since then I can't play. I've removed all mods, uninstalled. Removed all files from all areas, including saves, reinstalled. Checked everything is up to date. But every time I press play on the launcher it loads for a bit then crashes.
