Issue starting game [1.7.2]

Yesterday I was playing the game on 1.7.2 fine with a few mods no problem. Then today after the update for 1.8.0 I reverted back and tried to boot up the game with the same mods to no avail. So I started taking of mods and relaunching until eventually I had no mods left and was just vanilla, still game kept crashing on the loading screen and saying that "application has faced a issue". I've verified game files and still nothing works. Would appreciate if anyone might have any ideas. Cheers!
