STUCK AT BEGINING OF WARSAILS

I escorted the merchants and fought off two ships in a sea battle . I'm on the Scourge of the Seas quest. It tells me to talk to Gunnar via a golden exclamation point. I go to talk to him and he says thst he is waiting on new." What do I do now? It seems as though there are no obvious prompts and the quest still exists. I need help specifically with advancing this quest...I can't believe I am stuck this early in the game. If anyone has any advice, I'm really desperate. Is this a glitch?

I have one of my clan members governing one of my towns but she is also still in my party as my scout. She's gaining XP as both the governor of the town and also as a scout in my party. This is my third play through and as far as I was aware you couldn't have a clan member do both unless I'm incorrect? Been this way for several in game years.

I'm just a lowly console player so this is vanilla if that helps.

Back when Bannerlord was announced, I vaguely remember that, in the announcement thread, people were discussing the choice of the title "Bannerlord." Does anyone else remember that?
