I have a nice wife, a nice fief too, a castle on a hill with a magnificent view. I have fertile lands, and villages that thrive, hundreds of troops who somehow stay alive. My coffers are heavy, my warband is fed, my enemies see my banner and occasionally drop dead. I have horses and armor, silver and grain, a hall full of nobles complaining again. By every measure, I’ve won at this game. I’ve conquered, grown wealthy, and built up my name. Yet I stand on my battlements when the campaigning is done, watching the mountains fade with the sun. My wife is beside me. My kingdom is strong. My vaults overflow. But something feels wrong. I’ve everything a lord could possibly acquire… Maybe what’s missing another fief to desire. submitted by /u/t-o-m-u-s-a [link] [comments]
I have 170 hours in the game, but my current playthrough is only my second time becoming a vassal, which I just did (for Vlandia again). I don't remember much of my first time being a vassal and I didn't get very far in it.
I'm looking for general tips for mid-game, and have some more specific questions.
- Do you need to work on improving the very first fief you get, or is it better to wait til you have more troops and parties, the war is over, etc?
- At what point is it a good idea to form a second and third party? Who do you normally assign (relative, someone with the highest rank in X skill?)
- What are the best things to focus on for income? Especially if you want to join/follow around an army?
- Any helpful tips to smooth out the mid game in general?
Some info for my current run: I have 1 party with 100/150 troops (just had a big fight) with 190k. I have 2 workshops in Vlandia (smithy and brewery), no caravans, and make most my money from trading personally. I'm clan level 3, and just got my first fief (Lageta) in our current war.
