Disappointed Diplomacy

Just got back into the game agter the war sails expansion. And I am disappointed at the shallow level of fiplomacy still in the game. So many aded features and yet they could not add a truce mechanic...or even a way to influence nobles to change policy. Furthermore the changes they made are banal and redundant.. Explain to me why my "ALLY" Just deckared war on me after i PAID them 500k money to attack another faction. Keep in mind this was with 72 days remaining on the alliance. Trying to start Prophecy of Pendor, but I'm lost - help?

I'm trying PoP for the second or third time now, and I'm struggling a bit in figuring out what to do to build up my character and warband (if indeed I should do so) and advance in the world I've tried to read a few "guides" and such, but they're pretty scattered and often outdated.

One of them said to start with the Ravenstern, but they're hostile to me for some reason. Presumably because of something I chose during character creation, but I don't know what (very little is explained here) so I ended up with the Fiersvein, outside Javiksholm. I've done a few of the basic starter quests so far but that's it.

  • Is it possible to become affiliated with the Ravenstern at this point? If so, how do I repair my reputation with them?

  • What else should I be doing to get character established in this world? It's clear there's a lot of polish and rich depth here, but it's all a bit obscure. I'm not an expert at Warband but I've played long enough that I'm fine on the fundamentals and have little problem advancing in Native or Floris.

Any help or pointers or links to other resources are appreciated. I'd love to dig into this immense world, I'm just not sure how to start. Thanks!

Back when Bannerlord was announced, I vaguely remember that, in the announcement thread, people were discussing the choice of the title "Bannerlord." Does anyone else remember that?
