What is fast mode?

Persistent World and other RP mods, any still alive?

I played Persistent World a little, and Persistent Kingdoms, but I much preferred the former, but they all seem to be dead, is that the case? Or are there any other similar mods that are alive? I want to play with my gf and my friend but of course that's hard if they're all dead.
