Mods with only one Kingdom

I know the whole point of MnB is the chaos and politics of different kingdoms, BUT i was wondering if there are any mods with only one major kingdom or just 2 for a rebellion type playthrough. Mod a Save?

Really new to doing mods. Just downloaded the game last week without realizing it is early access. If I download a mod (specifically thinking the 'community patch' so that the perks work...), do I have re-start my game? Or will it work in an existing save?

Also, how do mods work with the game updates? Really like the game but it is far from polished.
