Hey folks! Question about War Sails.

I’m still a new player at Mount & Blade. My friend has the PS+ catalogue so I gave Warband a shot and liked it, I’ll be sure to play it on PC! I’m interested in buying War Sails. Mod a Save?

Really new to doing mods. Just downloaded the game last week without realizing it is early access. If I download a mod (specifically thinking the 'community patch' so that the perks work...), do I have re-start my game? Or will it work in an existing save?

Also, how do mods work with the game updates? Really like the game but it is far from polished.
