How to improve auto resolve outcomes?

I auto-resolve 90% of the fights I get into, what can I do for better results? Should I find 1-2 companions with high tactics skill and keep them in my party? Will that help? Do I have to assign them into any role? There is no slot for tactics role, is it enough if I just keep them in my party? As for sieges, should I keep a companion with high engineering skill and assign him in the engineering slot? I complete a siege either by sending troops or attacking but whenever it’s over my game freezes and the only thing I can do is move cursor?

I’m on console. Haven’t found anything googling it. Game is active but nothing on screen works but I can move over stuff with cursor but not interact with it. I can pop menu up by holding ps5 button but can’t save or anything. Any fixes?
