How to improve auto resolve outcomes?

I auto-resolve 90% of the fights I get into, what can I do for better results? Should I find 1-2 companions with high tactics skill and keep them in my party? Will that help? Do I have to assign them into any role? There is no slot for tactics role, is it enough if I just keep them in my party? As for sieges, should I keep a companion with high engineering skill and assign him in the engineering slot? [Prophesy of Pendor] How to besiege with other lords as marshall?

The title is pretty self-explanatory... I gathered an army while being marshall, everyone was following me, I besieged a town when every ally was nearby, but when I went to the assault, only my troops were there...

How can I "summon" everyone around?

I was finding weird that Fierdsvain troops would follow me around with my army helping me around, so I've seen that I'm not in war with anyone, but have a long history of bad reputation with the axe faction... damn it hahaha
