How to improve auto resolve outcomes?

I auto-resolve 90% of the fights I get into, what can I do for better results? Should I find 1-2 companions with high tactics skill and keep them in my party? Will that help? Do I have to assign them into any role? There is no slot for tactics role, is it enough if I just keep them in my party? As for sieges, should I keep a companion with high engineering skill and assign him in the engineering slot? Warband 7th faction banner

Was looking through the assets for the game and saw this file labeled kingdom banners:

Was wondering what this faction was as I don't recall seeing it in game. Was this a banner for the player faction before you could choose your own banner or from an old faction removed before release? Or was it something else?

EDIT: haven't done a claimant yet, is this the banner they have when you support them?
